Mine Dogucu

Research

With my research, I try to advance statistics and data science education through evidence-based pedagogical innovation, curriculum development, and inclusive teaching practices. I focus on three major research areas:

  1. Data Science Education
  2. Bayesian education
  3. Accessibility and inclusion
In these three areas, I create, study, and disseminate teaching practices that prepare undergraduate students for the modern data-driven world while also ensuring every learner can participate fully. In data science education I try to addresses the critical question of what belongs in modern data science curricula and how to deliver it effectively to optimize student learning and instructor preparation. My research tries to support students and instructors overcome the obstacles in learning and teaching statistical inference. Last but not least, I try to create frameworks and practices focused on accessibility and inclusion specific to statistics and data science.

If you are a graduate or an undergraduate student interested in statistics and data science education research, our research group meetings are scheduled for Mondays 1 - 2 pm for Spring 2026. Send me an email and you are welcome to attend the meetings. You can also check out the publications on this page. You should especially pay close attention to those that have my (former) mentees as coauthors with the following indicators.

* indicates a co-author who was an undergraduate student mentored by Dogucu at the research stage of the publication.
** indicates a co-author who was a graduate student mentored by Dogucu at the research stage of the publication.
*** indicates a co-author who was a postdoctoral scholar mentored by Dogucu at the research stage of the publication.
